Wonky pinwheels

 I'm going crazy making these!  5 1/2", 3 1/2" and 2"

 This one starts off with 2" squares.  4 blocks by blocks equals a 6 1/2" block

This one starts off with 3 1/2" squares, 4 x 4 = 12 1/2" block.  The first pic shows two large blocks on the left starting off with 5 1/2" blocks, 4 x 4 = a whopping 20 1/2" block.

So that's what I've been up to.  Would love to see what you're all working on.

 Isn't my new handbag pretty?

 The same day the handbag arrived it became my everyday bag.  I LOVE pink and brown together, and the lining fabric is so sweet.  Look at the beautiful clear glass button.

Here's her label, and she made the perfect-sized inside pocket for my cell phone.  I've been showing it off to all my peeps.   Brenda, thank you so much!!!

Kaffe Fassett beauty

Folk Art Quilts' window in Wakefield, Rhode Island.  I thought you might enjoy them.

Some of these pictures were taken through the glass window, thus the blurriness.

I don't know if all of the fabrics in these quilts are Kaffe, but they certainly are gorgeous.  I asked permission of Evie to put the pics on my blog. She and her sister run the shop.  It's quite a temptation to me being only about 2 miles away from work.
 

Lucky Stars quilt blocks

I've made 22 blocks.  I think I need one more.

Lots of Kaffe Fassett, Philip Jacobs, some batiks, etc.
I've been doing some sewing, less blogging, obviously.  I think about blogging almost every day, but priorities get in the way.
I do hope you are all well.  I take some time most every day to check out what you all are doing through Google Reader, which I guess is soon to be a thing of the past.  I'll have to get up to speed soon.

Cut-out applique?

Disclaimer:  I did not make this (although I wish I could claim to be the artist).

I don't know what it is, or who made it. It's some kind of cut-out applique, and it's hand-sewn.  My daughter gave it to me from her MIL.  I put it up on my design wall just because I like it, and as I was making some Granny Smith blocks I noticed the colors are very similar.  It makes me think of Victoria's tea towel challenge (bumblebeans.blogspot.com) where you take a tea towel and improv some borders around it.  I might attempt it with this piece.

In other news, I DID finish my Easy Street quilt but, as predicted, I folded the quilt top and put it away without sandwiching it or finishing it.  Maybe some day I'll find someone who will love it!

And here's a random question:  Do the colors turquoise and coral go together?  I can't picture it but I'm told by someone that those are the colors they like and I don't know if they meant the two together.  I didn't want to ask questions and get their suspicions up.

At my Monday night quilting class last week I asked Jean to bring in something for show and tell.  She obliged with this beauty:

I forget what she called this pattern - I like it!  The way the blocks are made, they appear to be shimmery.  And the entire quilt was so very soft!

Not so Easy Street

I made my design "wall" larger.  Now it extends from the very edge of the doorway to the other wall and all the way to the ceiling, although I need a step ladder to reach up there - I'm only 5 feet tall :-( and the ceilings are probably 8'.  My sewing room is 12' x 12'.  

I admire those of you who finished your Easy Street quilts!  Wow!  Lots of work.  All my blocks are done, I'm sewing the rows together today.    

I'm embarrassed to say that it's been in the back of my mind to finish the top, fold it up, and tuck it away somewhere, which is unusual for me; I'm just not liking these fabrics.  What a dope I am, though.  Too many times I rush along just to get it done.  And I know why.  It's because I have too little time to sew, so I feel like I have to hurry, otherwise, nothing will ever get done.  It makes for a lot of poor choices.  Maybe if I started quilting 20 years ago that wouldn't be the case.  Who knows.  Okay, enough rambling.  Have a good week, everybody.
